Gunderson Dettmer is an international law firm dedicated exclusively to venture capital investors, and startup companies. Their new Playa Vista office seeks to attract a younger demographic of clientele, and staff alike and is situated in the heart of “Silicon Beach”.

The reception area is a playful, and quirky space with painted concrete flooring, custom concrete and a wood reception desk. This space is flanked with meeting rooms, and a large board room that also serves as an employee training room. Acoustic felt baffles and plush carpeting make this space comfortable and function acoustically.

Attention to detail and materiality was a driving force behind the design of this space.
An architectural cadence and rhythm was considered as one experience the long wall of office storefronts. Glass sliding doors, and minimal framing helped preserve a clean and modern aesthetic along corridors. Sleek steel framing elements were used at critical junctures between storefronts and adjacent gathering spaces, furthermore enhancing the premium look and feel of the space.
